Aircraft & Components
For many years SAFE Air has offered one of New Zealand’s most comprehensive military and regional airframe and component maintenance facilities. We are proud to undertake all major maintenance requirements for the P3 Orion and C-130 Hercules and Seasprite helicopters for the Royal New Zealand Air Force at our main site in Blenheim, Marlborough. SAFE Air also has a team permanently located at Base Auckland (Whenuapai) to support the RNZAF operational fleet and a team conducting line support and maintenance for the RNZAF T6 Texan training fleet at Base Ohakea.
Our capabilities include removal of components for inspection of the aircraft including fliying controls, fairings, doors and panels. SAFE Air performs Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and inspection of the airframe, with repairs carried out either in the hangar or through our co-located workshops as required. The aircraft is re-assembled, painted and thoroughly ground tested before handing over to the RNZAF for air testing. The powerplant – engine and propellers and their components are passed to SAFE Air’s specialised ‘Prop shop’. The undercarriage is taken care of off-site, with all freight, service and delivery managed by SAFE Air’s own logistics team.
